Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your information, and the rights you have over it.
Last updated: 2 September 2026
Your trust matters to us, and so does your privacy. This policy explains what information Younited collects, why, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it. Because we work with your health, we hold that information to a high standard.
Younited is a health agency under New Zealand law. We handle your personal and health information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.
1. Who we are
Younited provides online coaching in strength, nutrition and naturopathic wellness, based in Aotearoa New Zealand. In this policy, "we", "us" and "Younited" mean the Younited coaching business, and "you" means our clients and website visitors. If you have any questions, you can reach us any time at brie@younited.co.nz.
2. The information we collect
We only collect what we need to coach you well. Depending on how you use Younited, that can include:
Account and contact details
- Your name, email, phone number and location
- Login credentials for the Younited app
Health and wellbeing information
To build a plan that is safe and right for you, we may collect:
- Date of birth, height, weight and body measurements
- Training history, activity levels and goals
- Diet, allergies and intolerances
- Medical history, injuries, medications and supplements
- Symptoms, sleep, stress, menstrual cycle and other wellbeing markers
- Progress photos, check-ins, journal entries and messages with your coach
Payment information
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.
Website and app usage
Basic technical information such as your device, browser and pages visited, used to keep the site working and improve it.
3. Why we collect it
We use your information only to:
- Provide your coaching: build and adjust your nutrition, training and wellness plans
- Communicate with you, run check-ins and answer your questions
- Keep your account secure and take payments
- Meet our professional and legal obligations
We will not use your information for a new purpose without asking you first.
4. Your consent
When you join Younited and complete your onboarding, you consent to us collecting and using your information as described here, including your health information. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, though this may mean we can no longer safely coach you.
5. Artificial intelligence, and never selling your data
We never sell your information, and we never use it to train artificial intelligence.
We may use trusted AI tools to help deliver your coaching, for example to help design or refine your plans. Where we do, your information is always handled under strict confidentiality, is never used to train AI models, and is never sold. We minimise and de-identify the information involved, and we never use free, public AI apps for your personal or health information.
6. Who can see your information
Access is tightly limited:
- You can see your own information in the app.
- Your coach (Brie, Jeremy and the Younited coaching team) can see the information needed to coach you. Your private journal entries are only visible to a coach if you choose to share them.
- No other client can ever see your information. Our systems are built so each person can only access their own data.
- Trusted service providers who host and run our systems (see below) process data on our behalf under confidentiality, and only as needed to keep Younited running.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or where there is a serious risk to someone's life or health.
7. Where your information is stored
Younited runs on trusted providers, some of which store data on secure servers outside New Zealand:
- Supabase and Vercel host our app, database and files
- Stripe handles payments
- Google Workspace handles our email, and our website is hosted through our website provider
Where information is held overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by safeguards comparable to New Zealand's, as required by the Privacy Act.
8. How we keep it secure
Protecting your information is a priority. Our safeguards include:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Strict access controls so each account can only reach its own data
- Private storage and time-limited, signed links for sensitive files such as progress photos
- Multi-factor authentication and limited access on our coaching accounts
- Regular, secured backups
No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and to keep improving.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you are a Younited client, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our professional and legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see your rights below).
10. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Request deletion of your information
- Withdraw your consent to us using it
- Complain if you believe your privacy has been breached
To make any of these requests, email us at brie@younited.co.nz and we will respond as soon as we can, and within the timeframes the law requires.
11. Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies to keep it working and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
12. Data breaches
If a privacy breach ever occurs that could cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by law, and act quickly to limit any impact.
13. Children
Younited's app and online coaching are for adults. We do not collect children's information through the app or any online service. Where care for a child is genuinely needed, this is done face to face and in person only, always with a parent or guardian present and involved. We do not coach children through the app, by message, or online.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and let you know if the changes are significant.
15. Contact and complaints
For any privacy question or request, contact us at brie@younited.co.nz.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.
